Reproduction of 5½" revolver in metal and imitation ivory plastic handle, with simulated loading and firing mechanism and rotating drum.
The Peacemaker revolver, also known as the Single Action Army, was designed by Samuel Colt in 1873 and was manufactured with different barrel lengths: the short version, 4.75 inches, the longer forms, 5.5 and 7.5 inches, or the impressive 'Buntline Special', 12 inches.
This weapon was initially used by the US Army. However, within a few years, most American citizens had one of these revolvers. The fact that it used ammunition of the same calibre as the Winchester M1873 rifle helped its popularisation as a weapon in the American Old West at the end of the 19th century.
Curiously, this revolver has received numerous nicknames. In addition to the aforementioned Peacemaker, it is also known as the Frontier or Widowmaker, in reference to the ease with which this revolver leaves wives at the time.
The film industry mythologised the 'Peacemaker' in the westerns of the 1940s and 1950s, and collaborated with big screen stars such as John Wayne or Gary Cooper. Roosevelt even had one engraved with his initials and George S. Patton used two.
Feel like the star of a great western with the DENIX reproduction of this revolver!
