Symbolic meaning of 'Su Coccu': a Sardinian amulet of great craftsmanship, made by a Sardinian craftsman and devotee. Su Coccu serves to protect against the evil eye, the stone in fact absorbs negative influences. Traditionally, the stone is made of obsidian or onyx and is mounted on silver. Worn under clothes, like a pendant, it is a powerful amulet against the evil eye. It is said that if the negative influences are too strong, the coccu breaks but the person remains unharmed. Su Coccu mounted on the finely handcrafted silver brooch is given to newborn babies to protect them from envy and the evil eye. It is pinned on the cradle, the pushchair or clothes, and absorbs negative energies. It can also be given to a bride to protect her and her relationship, or to a loved one affected by the evil eye.
