Pistol 1908 of the model (P08), popularly known as Luger, is a semi-automatic pistol propelled pistol, which has survived Treaty restrictions of Versailles. It uses an internal slide, driven by an articulated arm, in contrast to the common external slide in almost all other semi-automatic guns.
It was designed by Georg Luger in 1898 and produced by German arms factory Deutsche WaffenundMunitionsfabriken (DWM) compared to the year 1900. During the years of life the Luger P08 passes through the hands of several manufacturers, who were responsible for the production of more than a million units of this legendary gun that marked a before and after in the history of light weapons.
Although the first models were produced in 7.65×21 caliber Parabellum, its 1908 model is famous for being the gun for which the 9×19 Parabellum cartridge was developed. The name Parabellum derives from an ancient Latin saying “Su vis pacem, para bellum” (“If you want peace, prepare for war”).
The Parabellum Luger pistol became very popular due to its use by Germany during the First and Second World Wars and was a highly sought-after gun by soldiers throughout the twentieth century.
